Knowing Your Purpose for Marketing

You've probably seen many different Lake of the Ozarks vehicle wraps running around town, some maybe better than others.  The most effective vehicle wraps start by defining your purpose; what do you want to accomplish with your vehicle wrap marketing?  What message do you want to get across to your customers?  Here are some tips for defining your purpose:

1. Marketing Message

What is the number one point you want customers to take away?  Attempting multiple messages on a vehicle wrap is not a good idea. You can confuse your customers and come off as unorganized. Stick to whatever your most important message is.  Some ideas could include:

  • BEST in Town - Are you the fastest or most experienced person in your industry here at the Lake? Do you provide something that other companies don't?  Is your customer service great?
  • Product or Service - Do you just want to let customers know about your unique product or service?
  • Promotions - Are you offering a special discount to those who see your vehicle wrap?
  • Call to Action - Do you want customers to call you or visit your website?

2. Target Market

Think about who you are attempting to appeal to and decide which graphics will capture that demographic's attention.  Ask yourself the following questions:

  • Who do you want your message to reach?
  • Is your target market teenagers or young adults, mothers or grandparents?
  • Are you targeting other businesses rather than individual consumers?
You will choose a different message and style depending on the market you want to attract.

3. Design Integration

Once you have picked out your marketing message and defined your target market, it's important to think how you can incorporate this into your design.  You want to make sure that the graphics match the text and message you've come up with.  Some points you'll want to consider include:

  • Text - style and font can make or break your design.  If your message is more serious, you should stick to a basic font.  Otherwise you can go for a more fun font, just be sure it is easy to read as people driving by will only have a few seconds to read it.
  • Color - You've probably heard how color relates to psychology and that certain colors can evoke certain emotions.  If you're message is happy, black is probably not a good color choice. For more information on color choices, check out our blog "The Meaning of Colors in Marketing."
  • Design - Do all the pieces work together?  Does your message come across clearly and concisely?  Simpler is better and less is always more when it comes to vehicle wraps in Jefferson City, Columbia and Lake of the Ozarks.
