If possible, park your vehicle in a garage or under a car port so it doesn't get covered in snow and ice. While your vehicle wrap is designed to withstand the elements, over exposure to extreme weather can lead to a shorter life for your Missouri custom vehicle wrap.
2. Beware of Using Ice Scrapers.
If you do have to leave your vehicle out where it's exposed to the weather, be careful of using ice scrapers to remove snow and ice. Those handy dandy ice scrapers are designed to take everything off your windows, including your vinyl graphics. Even if the scraper doesn't take your vinyl completely off, it almost certainly with scratch or damage it. The best way to avoid issues with your window wraps, is to run the defrost and let the ice and snow melt away. If it still needs some help, take a soft brush to your windows, something that won't scratch the wrap.
After a snow storm hits, or often even before it hits, crews head out to place salt and sand on the roads. While that salt is beneficial for traction to keep your vehicle on the road, it can really take a toll on your vehicle, particularly your vehicle wrap. If you can avoid driving on the salted roads, or through piles of snow and puddles where that salt easily collects, your wrap will last longer. In addition to keeping your wrap in great shape, avoiding that salt and sand will also help prevent it from getting trapped in the undercarriage of your car and causing damage. By waiting awhile, others will have cleared the road some, allowing you to get more traction and less salt and sand on your vehicle.
4. Hand Wash Your Vehicle Regularly.
No matter how hard you try to avoid it, it’s inevitable that some of that road salt and sand will get on your vehicle. You don’t want to let that sit on your vehicle for too long. To minimize the damaging effects of salt and sand, you should wash your car at least once a month throughout the winter. It’s also important that you wash it by hand because the automatic car washes can use too much pressure, and often use re-purposed water that could have salt in it. They also just get the general areas of the vehicle, and by hand washing you can ensure you get all the gunk off your vehicle.
