4 Rules for an Effective Vehicle Wrap Design

Designing a Lake of the Ozarks vehicle wrap takes skill. Think about it...the viewer has just a few seconds to view your wrap when passing it on the highway. Yes, you'll have more time when you're stopped at a light to make an impression, but you want anyone who sees your wrap to be able to understand your message quickly. Here are 4 rules for creating an effective vehicle wrap:

1. Start with a Brand

Vehicle wraps are all about branding! With any type of marketing you do, you want to be consistent with your branding to increase recognition. Especially for small businesses, the message should always be centered around the brand. You'll want to stick with the same color scheme you've been using for your other marketing materials and use your logo if you have one. A great vehicle wrap starts with a great brand!

2. Limit the Text

There are just a few things that a good wrap needs to be effective:
  • Strong brand implementation, using a tagline if you have one
  • Website address
  • Phone number
Do not try to cram as much information on the vehicle as possible. Remember that viewers will have a limited amount of time to view your design. Would you rather list 10 things and have the viewer remember nothing, or focus on 2-3 important aspects? Remember that if they have your website address, they can easily go there to get the rest of the information they need. Or with a phone number, they can call and get more information. By prioritizing your copy, the wrap will be much more effective!

3. Stand Out

When designing your vehicle wrap in Jefferson City, Columbia or Lake of the Ozarks areas, think about standing out, rather than fitting in. Too many wraps are littered with visual noise. When you see something that is easy to read and memorable, it creates more of an impact. These simple designs can't help but stand out. Viewers are so accustomed to seeing visual clutter, that simple is the way to get noticed. Eliminate the frills, noisy backgrounds, photos, bevels and glows to create a wrap that really stands out...the right way!

4. Be Simple and Obvious

Time is the issue here and if the viewer has to work too hard to figure out your primary message, that's an opportunity lost. Unlike with print, the viewer is not able to stop, absorb the advertising and try to understand the message. What is that one primary take-away that you're hoping the viewer gets? Does the wrap design effectively communicate it, or is the message lost in the imagery?
