With the 4th of July just around the corner, we're thinking about stars & stripes, and red, white & blue. Independence Day is all about celebrating the history of our country and what better way to do that than with a little patriotism. How do you like to show your patriotism? Here are 5 great ways to show your support this holiday weekend, or really any time of the year for that matter!1. Fly a Flag.
Flying the American flag is probably one of the most patriotic things you can do. Whether you have one up on a giant flagpole at the office, hanging off the front of your house or one of the little ones you hold in your hand during a parade, the flag is a true symbol of patriotism. According to a Fox News poll last year, 94% of the respondents said that proudly displaying the "Stars and Stripes" is a true show of patriotism.
2. Volunteer at a Veteran's Home.
While not all of us are brave enough or have the ability to join the military, we can serve our country here at home by volunteering. Giving back to those who have courageously served our country is a great way to show your patriotism. Volunteer at your local veteran's home this holiday weekend; sometimes the residents just need someone to visit with them.
3. Participate in a Parade.
Show that you're proud to be an American by participating in a 4th of July parade! Many cities hold a 4th of July parade each year where participants decorate their vehicles in red, white and blue. Some people even create extravagant floats to show their patriotism and dress themselves up too!
4. Sing the National Anthem.
Whether in front of a large crowd or with your family at home, singing the national anthem is a great way to show your patriotism. In fact, there are many other songs you could sing to show your support of our country as well. God Bless America, America the Beautiful and My Country 'Tis of Thee are just a few of these great songs. What's your favorite patriotic song to sing?
