Wash Your Vehicle Wrap Before Winter Hits!

In order to keep your Lake of the Ozarks vehicle wrap in tip top shape, you want to make sure to wash it regularly to keep the dirt and grime off of it. The brushes of an automatic car wash can damage the vinyl so you'll want to wash your vehicle by hand. With the temperatures dropping and winter on its way, now is the best time to wash your wrap before it gets too cold to do it by hand!

Tips for Washing Your Vehicle Wrap

  • Hand washing is the best solution for cleaning your wrap. Use a sponge, soft brush or rag and apply a mild liquid detergent and water solution.
  • Start washing at the top and work your way to the bottom to allow dirt and other debris to run downward. Avoid scrubbing.
  • Make sure the bucket you are using is clean and free of debris.
  • Be sure to keep your water level no hotter than 180 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Power washing, if done too much or too aggressively, can damage graphics or cause the adhesive to come loose. If you must use a power washer, use extreme care and avoid directly spraying the edges.
  • As an alternative to power washing, use a spray nozzle and spray in a 40 degree pattern and never go over 1500 to 2000 psi.
  • When completed, make sure you wash off all the cleaning solution from the top down.
  • Be sure to dry your graphics with a clean towel.
  • Never use harsh chemicals or aggressive brushing or scrubbing motions.

Why Do I Need To Wash My Vehicle Wrap?

It's no secret that vehicles require regular maintenance, but so does your vehicle wrap. Don't worry - it's nothing too drastic. The best thing you can do to care for your wrap is to clean it regularly. Getting rid of the grime, dirt, dust and other contaminants, such as bird poop, before they have a chance to adhere to the vinyl covering is all you need to do. Letting bird droppings and difficult stains sit for too long will make them harder to remove and may permanently damage the wrap. The horizontal areas are a magnet for pollutants, which are intensified by UV ray exposure. If you spill fuel on your wrap, be sure to wipe it up immediately as to not degrade the vinyl. By cleaning your wrap regularly to remove pollutants and particles, you will get a longer-lasting, more vibrant vehicle wrap.
