3 Tips for Cleaning Your Vehicle Wrap

Like the rest of your vehicle, your Lake of the Ozarks custom vehicle wrap needs cleaned and maintained. For long-lasting, vibrant vehicle graphics, you'll want to wash your vehicle wrap regularly. Keep reading for some tips to use when cleaning your vehicle wrap from ProDezigns!

1. Hand Wash Your Vehicle Wrap.

You do not want to take your wrapped vehicle to a car wash that uses brushes to clean your vehicle, as the brushes may be too rough on the film. They could cause it to lift at the edge or start peeling. While you could run it through a brushless car wash, hand washing is the best option to keep your vehicle wrap in tip-top condition. When washing your wrap, be sure to use a mild detergent and a soft automotive sponge or cloth.

2. Avoid Excessive Water Pressure.

Not only can the brushes at automatic car washes damage your vehicle graphics, but so can water pressure. While we recommend avoiding pressure washing your wrapped vehicles, if you must do so, use the following guidelines: keep the pressure below 2,000 psi, use a spray nozzle with a 40° angle wide spray pattern and keep the water temperature below 180°F. You also want to keep the spray nozzle at least 12 inches away from the car and spray perpendicular to the wrap to avoid chipping or other damage.

3. Spot Clean Regularly.

When dealing with difficult stains, you want to clean them as soon as possible. This can include bird droppings, insects, tree sap, pollen and fuel spills. Letting these items sit for too long can make them harder to remove, increasing the likelihood of damaging your wrap when trying to remove it. When cleaning stubborn contaminants, start by soaking the area in warm, soapy water to loosen it. If a stronger cleaning solution is needed, be sure to test an unnoticeable area first to make sure the cleaner won't damage the graphics. Be sure not to use solvents or oil-based cleaning products.

Protect Your Vehicle from Salt & Sand this Winter

The winter weather here in mid-Missouri can definitely take it's toll on your vehicle, and your vehicle wrap! Not only do you have to worry about the snow and ice on your car, you also have to watch out for the salt and sand that is used to help in those wintry conditions. This salt and sand could lead to rust buildup, scratches in your wrap and much more. Here are few ways to protect your vehicle and preserve the life of your Lake of the Ozarks vehicle wrap this winter:

1. Hand Wash Your Car

While you may only think about washing your car in the warm summer months, it's even more important to keep it clean during the winter. You don't want to let that salt and sand sit on your vehicle for long. To minimize the amount of damage from salt and sand, you should wash your car at least once a month, but preferably more if possible. It's also important that you wash your car by hand because: 1. The automatic car washes can use too much pressure, leading to damage of your vehicle wrap, 2. They often use re-purposed water that could have salt in it, and 3. The automatic car washes only cover the general area and may not get all the gunk off your vehicle.

2. Avoid Driving Through Large Snow Piles or Puddles

Be careful about where you drive in the winter months. Try to stay in the flat, center part of the road to keep your vehicle as clean as possible. Puddles are like traps for the salt and sand that gets carried away as the snow melts. In addition to the puddles, try to stay away from large piles of snow. While your vehicle may be more than capable of plowing through the snow, doing so could cause snow, salt and sand to get trapped in the undercarriage of your car, causing future damage.

3. Stay Off the Roads Immediately Following Storms

Right after a big snow storm hits is when the road crews head out to start putting down salt. While you're not going to be able to completely avoid salt from getting on your vehicle, you can reduce the effect by waiting to take your car out. Avoid hitting the road immediately after a storm so that you don't drive through piles of salt and sand. By waiting a little bit, others will have cleared the way for you, allowing you to get more traction and less salt and sand on your vehicle.

Can Vehicle Graphics Be Applied Over Body Damage?

The short answer to the question, "Can vehicle graphics be applied over body damage?" is no. Vehicle graphics at the Lake of the Ozarks are a great way to either market your business or change the look to match your personality. However, they can't do that if your vehicle is damaged. You'll want to get your vehicle repaired before applying any custom graphics and here's why:

5 Ways to Show Your Patriotism this 4th of July

With the 4th of July just around the corner, we're thinking about stars & stripes, and red, white & blue. Independence Day is all about celebrating the history of our country and what better way to do that than with a little patriotism. How do you like to show your patriotism? Here are 5 great ways to show your support this holiday weekend, or really any time of the year for that matter!

1. Fly a Flag.

Flying the American flag is probably one of the most patriotic things you can do. Whether you have one up on a giant flagpole at the office, hanging off the front of your house or one of the little ones you hold in your hand during a parade, the flag is a true symbol of patriotism. According to a Fox News poll last year, 94% of the respondents said that proudly displaying the "Stars and Stripes" is a true show of patriotism.

2. Volunteer at a Veteran's Home.

While not all of us are brave enough or have the ability to join the military, we can serve our country here at home by volunteering. Giving back to those who have courageously served our country is a great way to show your patriotism. Volunteer at your local veteran's home this holiday weekend; sometimes the residents just need someone to visit with them.

3. Participate in a Parade.

Show that you're proud to be an American by participating in a 4th of July parade! Many cities hold a 4th of July parade each year where participants decorate their vehicles in red, white and blue. Some people even create extravagant floats to show their patriotism and dress themselves up too!

4. Sing the National Anthem.
