3 Items That Determine the Longevity of a Vehicle Wrap

Not all vehicle wraps are created equal. When choosing a Missouri vehicle wrap company, you want to make sure you hire the best of the best. Solvent and Eco-Solvent Printers: The original printers for the vehicle wrap industry use extremely aggressive and "stinky" inks. They saturate the vinyl with heavy amounts of ink that take forever to dry. The main disadvantage of this type of printer is that without proper time to dry, they are extremely prone to failure. The heavy concentration of ink can penetrate through the vinyl and cause the adhesive to stick inconsistently, putting the wrap at risk of peeling or bubbling. Also, if these types of wraps are laminated too soon, the graphics will look cloudy, hazy or bubbly because the ink fumes get trapped underneath the laminate.
UV Printers: Ultra Violet (UV) printers are not typically recommended for printing vehicle wraps due to the ink becoming brittle when dry. These printers are great for signage and window graphics, but when you try to stretch and conform it to fit around a vehicle, there's greater risk for cracking underneath the laminate.
Latex Printers: Just like with any other industry, technology keeps improving in the vehicle wrap industry. The latest and greatest technology in the industry is the latex printer, which uses less abrasive inks. They are unique in that they use multiple fans and extremely high powered heaters to cure the ink as it is being laid down on the vinyl. This results in graphics that are 100% dry immediately after being printed. Due to the almost nonexistent drying time and the fact that the latex ink's composition is naturally more flexible than other types, this printer is ideal for applications requiring vinyl to conform or stretch around curves.
